Visual and performing arts graduates were the least successful in gaining work within four months, with just more than half, or 52.3 per cent, finding a job by May.
GCA research manager Bruce Guthrie said the figures reflected the state of the economic environment.
"Three years after the global financial crisis we are still seeing its lingering effects," he said.
Women (76.8 per cent) were slightly more likely than men (76.1 per cent) to be employed full time within four months of graduating.
About one in five graduates (19.4 per cent) went on to further study after their degree, a 0.4 per cent increase on the previous year.
Flinders University Bachelor of Science (Environmental Science) graduate Hannah Keynes, 22, was employed before she finished her final exams this year.
Ms Keynes said she was a "bit worried" about her prospects in a competitive employment market.
But her mentor, LBW Environment managing director Jarrod Bishop, found a graduate role for her at his firm.
