do you know how i can sign up to be on hells kitchen or even get into a culinary school although i have kids &

Question: I am no longer in school or seriously young for that matter.
I have a passion for cooking. I always prepare thanksgiving meals (turkey, yams, mashed potatos, homemade stuffing, string beans (my special ones mixed with stewed tomatos), corn, collard greens, and macaroni.

Culinary students find recipe for success

Shamela Hall, 19, took it as a good sign that customers were asking for seconds. The Greenbelt resident labored over the bowl, swirling pesto through the soup with a toothpick.

Hall, who moved to Maryland from Jamaica in 2009, said she has known since she was 9 that she wanted to cook. So she came to Woodland Job Corps Center to learn how.

Hall is one of about 70 culinary arts students at the center, a residential continuing education program funded by the U.S. Department of Labor to provide free education and training to youths ages 16 to 24 who don’t have the financial resources to go to a traditional job-training program. Students must be living with families making less than $25,000 a year. An education in culinary arts can range from about $5,000 at a community college to nearly $30,000 at private schools.

Students from across the country can enter the center’s academic programs to earn their GED or high school diploma and for job-training programs. The program is self-paced, but most students finish within a year and a half, depending on the course of study, center director Rodney Butler said.
