Introducing New Park City Faculty
Park City High School Family and Consumer Sciences teacher Collette Johnston spends five days a week in the kitchen. Johnston said she teaches classes from Foods I to an advanced culinary class called ProStart, for students interested in culinary school after graduation.
Johnston grew up in Orem and graduated from Brigham Young University in April with a Bachelor's degree in Family and Consumer Science, which she said is comparable to the old home economics classes.
"This is my first year teaching and this is my dream job," she said. "I'm so lucky. I love it here."
According to Johnston, PCHS teacher Judy McClelland has helped her settle in at the high school. McClelland has been teaching for 35 years.
"I'm grateful for Judy and her being my mentor teacher," she said. "She's been so helpful to me. She does all the sewing classes and I do all the food.
