We all know what the word skincare means. It means cleansers, exfoliators, toners, serums, primers, eye creams, night creams, anti-ageing creams and day creams; and that's before makeup which, depending on your habits, could mean another dozen products.
Adults may worry about the dramatic rate at which their skin is ageing, but what about teen skin?
The speed and change that adult skin goes through compared to teen skin is like the turtle and the hare. Not only do teens have to deal with body hair and the changes in physique that go with puberty, but they also have to deal with skin problems which, for some, can be more traumatic than the rest of puberty put together.
Teen skin is something that many of us don't understand, and while ageing skin can handle a multitude of products thrown at it, teen skin can't.
Dermatologist Lissa Judd, from Anwyl Medical Centre in Mana, sets the record straight on myths surrounding acne and teen skin:
